Spending A Day at Mid Valley

Started my working day at Mid Valley....spending time at Starbucks, Borders for my brekky....just a simple doughnut and my beloved Hot Caramel Machiato to start my day....It's only 11ish and while FBing; I caught a glimpse of the traffic jam caused by taxis (as shown above).

After the hustle and bustle of meeting clients, went for another round of food session...well hey, it's LUNCH after all....I've tried once the Fish Head Mee Hoon @ Home Made, Mid Valley and it's the wonderful taste of the soup and the freshness of the fish that makes me come back for more!

Usually it's hard to get a place during lunch hours but I am taking my lunch @ 3pm; so luckily the restaurant is only half full! I chose the Fried Grouper Head Mee Hoon as it has the least amount of bones. The standard Fish Head Mee Hoon which I ate the last round had me picking up bones after bones which is kinda frustrating if you really want to enjoy the meal.

From what I was told, they cook each dishes when it's ordered instead of heating up and that's why it takes about 15 minutes for my order to arrive. For this dish, would recommend you to mix the fish into your soup to have a stronger taste for the soup. The mee hoon is really soft and nice to chew on and to top that, the fried grouper is fried perfectly on the outside but maintaining the soft meat texture in the inside and best of all; it's FRESH!

A must try, if you're a fish head mee hoon lover or if you ever pop by Mid Valley. It's at the Megamall side, same row as Maybank/Chilis facing the Boulevard Offices.

A long forgotten joint

WOW! It's been 6 months since I visited my BLOG. I guess it's time for me to catch up again. Let me restart the blogging on a recent visit to an OLD JOINT which I used to frequent during my initial move to KL from Ipoh. It used to be a favourite hangout for me and my house mate as it's a really happening place during that time.

The joint is none other than BEACH CLUB which is situated within the GOLDEN TRIANGLE of Kuala Lumpur. It's famous for NIGHT LIFE where office crowds gather after office hours as they serve delicious meal with affordable beer during HAPPY HOURS. As the hour passes, party goers will join the crowd as the club plays music ranging from retro to the latest rnb & hip-hop beats. It is the club to be during the early 2000s before more new clubs emerge.

It has been nearly 8 years since my last visit and I am most delighted to visit again since I've got an invitation from a Facebook friend for lunch at the joint. To my surprise, the decor and even the SHARK FISH TANK is still the same as it was before 8 years AGO! Wow! I am really surprised to see that nothing has changed at all apart from that the 2 black tip sharks are no longer there....

They still serve a decent meal as I tasted the ORIENTAL CHICKEN CHOP set lunch which I ordered that comes with a FREE soft drink. They serve 2 types of set lunch and each day has its own personal sets. The set that I ordered is only 13.90++ which is quite affordable for a cafe that serves decent food with a quiet ambiance within the GOLDEN TRIANGLE.

Avis, thanks again for the lunch invitation to BEACH CLUB as it really brought back lot's of wonderful memories from my past. A really funny and hilarious moments indeed especially with my colleagues from my previous company. It's a pleasure to meet you at last after 2 years of contacting each other via Facebook although we have never met up. Hope there will be another meeting up session sometime again.

Another GREAT MOVIE by James Cameron. AVATAR is a movie about a soldier Jake Sully; one of an endless numbers of wounded war veterans who was given a chance to be able to enjoy his "freedom" & "a new start" at a world called PANDORA. He's given an opportunity to be in a great research team by using an Avatar and that is when the amazing story begins...

AVATAR is an amazing movie where it brings out the realism of another world filled with beautiful, colourful and mystical creatures! The location and settings are out of this world! The movie also gives u a strong sense of connection as you really can feel the sadness, the anger, the frustation, the pain, the joy, the happiness, the thrill of the situation.

IT IS A MUST WATCH MOVIE!

I've watched the movie 1st time with 3D effects and it blows me away. You really can see the action coming live out of the screen! I've also watched the movie 2nd time without the 3D effects and it's still AWESOME! I would love to watch it again as seriously, the movie really took my breath away.....AVATAR, here I come again!

Sakae Sushi @ KLCC

I had the chance to experience Sakae Sushi again when I visited The Star Property Fair @ KLCC. It was sometime ago since my last visit there but it's good to be back as I love the sushi dishes provided.

Moreover they have a unique way of ordering food; whereby each table is equipped with a monitor and a mouse for the customer to view the full details of the dishes and order from there with a click of a mouse. Usually the orders arrive within minutes.

It seems that Sakae Sushi was established in Singapore during 1997 when a loving husband presented his wife (an avid fan of Japanese food) with the establishment of the first Sakae Sushi. More story @ their website.

Although this time around the sushi is not as fresh as it used to be; it is still a delightable meal and it's actually an affordable one. If you have yet to test it out, why not go and try it out yourself?

New Journey Ahead....

Last Friday, I attended a friends wedding lunch at SPRING VALLEY Restaurant located at Mid Valley Megamall. As many of you would know that CHINESE Wedding Ceremonies includes a GRAND BANQUET whereby family, relatives, friends and guests alike are invited to celebrate the joyous union of the newlyweds!

During the BANQUET which is usually held at restaurants or hotels; 8 to 10 dishes will be served to guests. Itinerary of the BANQUET often includes slide shows of younger years of the couple and how they met, photos of their wedding potraits, speeches by the couple & family members alike, toasts, cake cutting ceremony, performances etc. Therefore it can be said the same for the wedding banquet I attended.

The only surprise I had was when the MC announced that my friend; the bride got to know her now husband through the net! I know that at this time and era, a lot of friendship as well as relationship begins via online but still that announcement really caught me by surprise. ^^

Anyways, I would like to thank both Soo Shin & CK for inviting me over to celebrate their joyous union and wishing them both lots of coming happy memories & time spend together (not forgetting the little MINI SS&CK) . A gift from me with a wedding quote from ROBERT FROST:-

Can you say "Shabu Shabu" ?

From Wikipedias description; Shabu Shabu (also spelled syabu-syabu) is a Japanese variant of hot pot which also means steamboat for us locals in Malaysia. I've heard friends keep mentioning about this Shabu Shabu phenomenon for a year or so now but I've yet to test it out. Since Apple recommends that Puchong has one of the best Shabu Shabu restaurant; I am obliged to try it out.

We reached the restaurant about 8.30pm and I was shocked to see the queue! Frankly speaking, I know queuing is very common in KL for popular food joints but for a Japanese steamboat? What's more shocking is that we have to wait for 30 minutes for a table for 2 person?? o.O

During the long wait, I just glance around and found that the restaurant comprise of 4 storeys which includes the Ground Floor where they have a tea house. The above 3 floors are for Shabu Shabu business! WOW! 3 whole floors and yet still have to wait? When it's our turn, we have to pay upfront; each person costs RM26.50! Did I mentioned it's buffet style?

Anyways we took the lift up to the 3rd floor and to my surprise, the place looks like a canteen! Seriously, I did not expect it to be so but how else would they serve buffet style efficiently and fast without the assistance of a conveyor belt just like a sushi restaurant? It seems everyone is seated with their own hot pot whereby you have a control panel to increase or decrease the heat of your pot with just a push of a button.

I feel that it's not suitable for a group food gathering joint as it really feels like you're eating alone all the while! I mean you have your own pot with your own food and that all of the patrons are sitting in 1 straight line...how do you even have a decent conversation right?

Well for RM26.50, they do serve quite a number of varieties of food but I would not advise on the seafood as it's not fresh during my patronage there. The best dish is their famous thinly sliced pork which is quite tasty. It's recommended by most of my friends or colleagues who have visited the place and I do agree. As for the rest of the dishes, it's nothing to shout about at all.

My Rating for this place (based on my own personal opinion ONLY):-

-Ambience : 2 out of 5

-Food : 3 out of 5

-Price : 3 out of 5 (if you can eat a lot)

By the way, please take note do not simply take as much dish as you want; as they will charge customers on wastage of food which is in a way good to prevent patrons wasting the food!

If you're interested to visit the restaurant, it's just behind Giant Hypermarket at Bandar Puteri Puchong; one of those 4 storey shophouses with a big Shabu Shabu signage. Apologies as I've forgotten to grab their card :P

Someone just turned a little wiser on October 15th and he is none other than my buddy Kar Wing. He and I goes waaaayyyyy back....yea, like wayyyy back ^^ It's been about 7 months since we last catch up ( we caught up when I was in Perth this March 09 ) and he still looks skinny as ever! Bro, teach me how you keep your body so slim lar! :P

Anyways since he's back to visit his family in Malaysia & coincidentally it's his WISEN UP DAY, we went to Neway 1 Utama to celebrate his BIG DAY! We were kind of lucky since we were given a room that fits for 15! Such HUGE ROOM for the 5 of us ONLY! Practically you can jump up and down and monkeying around....

Since we did not manage to get a cake from any cake shop, we decided to order 1 from Neway and wow it's really expensive! I believe it's about RM48 for a 500gm cake and it's not even tasty. Sorry for ruining your cake experience there bro....

A TIMID Cat...

A few weeks back I was invited by my Kai-Che (god sis); Alice with her sister Catherine for a photoshoot session. Alice wanted to try out a new project of hers; a book reading themed photoshoot. I gladly tagged along as I wanted to test out and also improve my photography skills after my B2I class session at Nikonian Academy.

The photoshoot location is set at a park at Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur. The park is usually packed with people from all walks of life for recreational activities but not that particular day which in a way is good for us since we won't have lots of people eyeing on us ^^

We had an enjoyable time trying out ways to tweak our shots as well as testing out poses for our model; Catherine. By the way, I'm also one of the model in Alices project which you can check out at her blog!

Thanks Alice & Catherine for the invite as I had a wonderful time enjoying the photoshoot with the both of you!

We continued our photoshoot at another location later on the day which I will be posting SOON!

Restarted my QUEST for knowledge again as it's been awhile since I've indulged myself in BOOKS! Probably a year ago? No wonder my BRAIN felt so empty lately...ahahhaa... Anyways I would like to thank my buddy WING for lending the book.

He actually just bought it from Kinokuniya @ KLCC yesterday! Since we had a dinner there and he emphasised that I reminded him of 1 of the DIFFICULT people in the book; I grab it from him and IT's MINE for NOW! ^^

This book is about how to deal with difficult people with a very CATCHY title. Since I deal with diferent types of people everyday, I believe this book will provide me a lot of guidance. So far managed to finish 2 chapters and am loving it!

It has been quite sometime since I had Tomyam and since Nor (thanx for the dinner) is obliging enough to take me out for dinner; we went to Vicchuda. I did a post on this restaurant before and it was around end of 2008; meaning it has been a year since I pop by that place!

Vicchuda is a well known restaurant for its Thai food is located at Uptown Damansara (facing LDP highway).

Since it's just the 2 of us; we ordered small size for all the dishes. Evertyhing was indeed small except for the fish! The fish is easily a KILO in size! We were like wondering how in the world for small sized dish, they can give us a KILO sized fish?

Since it's served; we might as well try to finish it up.

My personal opinion : The price is reasonable for a 2 persons meal with a fish which is within RM45 plus 2 drinks as well. It is a recommended place for a group/family dinner as it's worthwhile since the portion is big enough with reasonably priced though if you're a picky eater, this would not be a place for you to enjoy your meal.

It was around 9pm when i met up with my muimui Gwenyse to discuss about her SAVINGS PLAN with ETIQA. She suggested to go to a cafe around Dataran Sunway. I obliged as it was near her place and she convinced me that it's a comfortable cafe with affordable food & drinks!

When we arrived, there wasn't many people patronising the place; only 7 tables were taken. Probably it was already late? Since I did not had my dinner and was starving like a hungry wolf; I quickly ordered my meal.

To my surprise their service is fast. Less than 3 minutes, our food and drinks arrived. The Iced Honey Lemon Juice that we ordered has the right balance of soury sweet taste. The Nasi Lemak Kapitan Chicken is served with average proportion of rice but the "sambal" which is the main ingredients of the nasi lemak was below average as it's not spicy nor soury. The fishball soup was a major letdown as it's near tasteless even though it's only RM2 for a bowl!

Overall, I would rate the cafe based on (*note: this is based on my personal opinon) : -

1) Ambience ( 4 out of 5 ) as it has nice lightings, great comfortable seats with appropriate table heights, spacious, cooling and it has wi-fi!

2) Food ( 3 out of 5 ) as the 2 dishes that I had is nothing special although the price was quite affordable. Overall cost is only RM15.75 with service charge for 2 drinks, 1 nasi lemak & a soup!

Recommended as a good place to hang out for a drink or to surf but it can also be a good place to grab a bite if you do not mind much on tastes of food since the location provides a good ambience.

Back to Basics....

3rd October 2009 was a life changing experience for me...why? Well for once, I never thought I would pay RM390 for a 1 day class and it's for photography! I mean come on, RM390 for a class to teach you on how to use your camera? All you need is just tweak some setting here and there while the rest is just position yourself to shoot right? I WAS WRONG...

After sitting there listening to our trainers a couple of minutes, already I found out that I was MISTAKEN all these while especially on the setting of the camera...I've been doing what a lot might be doing; get a Digital-SLR (DSLR) and use them as a you would with a compact digital cameras (CDC). Nothing wrong with CDCs but why get a DSLR (way much costly compared to CDC) if you would to use it as a CDC right?

At Nikonian Academy where I attended the Beginners to Intermediate Photography class, we were taught on :-

*Setting camera to shoot correctly

*Using F.A.C.T. to shoot beautiful photos

*Flash photography

*Model photo shoot session (indoor & outdoor)

The class session is totally informative, humorous, fun, exciting & very much hands on! This is all credited to both our trainers for the day; Andrew Boey & Alex Ang for making it such a wonderful experience. Also thanking our model for the day; Sharon for her professionalism & dedication.

My class session was made more enjoyable as I was accompanied by my 2 friends; Wing & Alice and it certainly is more fun if you have friends tagging along to share your accomplishments. If not you could always make new friends which we did and his name is Derrick.

After the session, I find that it is worth every cents for the RM390 that I paid as I get much more value out of it! The class that I am targeting now would be the Flash Photography!

Putrajaya; a Malaysian Federal Government Administrative Center & also a Federal Territory is located south of Kuala Lumpur. The population here are mostly government servants which was moved from Kuala Lumpur since 1999.

Seri Gemilang Bridge

A planned city started development during the year 1995 and developed ever since. As of to date, there are still many constructions of new buildings within Putrajaya itself. Visitors to Putrajaya especially local Malaysians might find it difficult to believe that they're still within Malaysia when they visit.

The architecture as well as design of the buildings are somehow more futuristic as well as filled with cultures compared to the other buildings that you see often in other cities of Malaysia. Seri Wawasan Bridge, Putrajaya Convention Centra, Seri Perdana just to name a few...

Landscape is well laid out as well as you have lush greeneries & hugelakes around which makes you feel fresher.

Seriously for those who have yet to visit Putrajaya; it is a MUST visit location as it really has the "WOW" factor in it. That's one of the main reason why I pick Putrajaya as one of my test shot locations as well as more to come photoshoot sessions.

What is more spectacular is during the evening, where the sun greets you goodbye. The view from the lake is spectacular especially with the golden sparkles from the suns ray reflects back from the water of the lake.

Putra Mosque

Last of all, night view is where Putrajaya really shows its charm and beauty. All the gorgeous color lights dancing sexily across the night sky beautifully.

Seri Wawasan Bridge

Cameron Highlands; a highland region famous for its cool weather, tea plantations, strawberry, flowers and vegetables farms which is located in Pahang . A little more information and history about Cameron Highlands can be found at Wikipedia .

The Apartment we stayed

We took about an hour and a half drive from Ipoh to reach Brinchang; biggest town in Cameron Highlands at the moment. Upon reaching everyone unloaded their stuffs and quickly indulged ourselves with wild durians which we've bought halfway on the way to Cameron. It was simply DELICIOUS! * apologies for no durian pictures as I was busy helping myself to some of it! ^_^

Rice Cooker Steamboat anyone?

Later we were all treated with vege steamboat dinner using rice cooker! Those of you have yet to try out must really try it out as it takes ages to cook! As all of us has no experience to make the steamboat, it was not a fulfilling dinner for all of us :(

Mah Jong Session

"Mah Jong" session was the next itenary for those gamblers whose hand has been itching since before dinner.....It was a very funny moment looking at these bunch of gamblers playing with their facial expression....

Starbucks lor...

We later adjourned for some hot tea/coffee drinks at Starbucks as most of the other cafes and even mamaks are CLOSED at 11pm! Was a nice experience to have drinks with a bunch of close mates sipping warm drinks while feeling the cool breeze....

BOH Tea Plantation

We visited 3 tea plantations namely 2 from BOH and 1 from Cameron Valley during our stay at Cameron which is quite an interesting experience as all 3 plantations gave us a different feeling. All has their own "cafe" outleft which overlook the tea plantations but the most special is the Sg Palas BOH plantation whereby the cafe is situated on top of the hill with a portion of the cafe stretches out from its base. With open air design, the customers are able to enjoy their meal/drinks with beautiful view and nice cool breeze. It is a must experience for visitors visiting Cameron!

BIG RED Strawberry

During our stay, we also managed to visit 2 strawberry farms which 1 has vegetables farm and both has nursery selling flowers. It's a recommended experience for visitors to visits these strawberry farms to try plucking their own strawberries as you will have a more accomplished feeling plucking your own strawberries as my mates was all fired up during the process...One cannot forget those happy faces when they find the BIGGEST & RIPEST strawberries...

Beautiful CARPS

We also went to a temple where one of my mates is hoping to visit. This particular temple has many well carve statues of deities with historical meanings if you're able to read Chinese. Also right at the entrance there is a small pond where it's crystal clear water surprises you with carps of multitude colors and friendly ones they are with no qualms of rising above water level hoping to get some meal out strangers! One also can touch and feel the smooth and beautifully scaled fishes!

Sg Palas BOH Tea Plantation

7 of us went up and we were all satisfied even though the trip was short planned. If there were more time, there are some other locations which could be visited which is by the lake, waterfall, honey farm as well as orchid/rose gardens! Well I guess it's not just the destination but also the people you travel with that makes an overall GREAT TRIP!

Caving Adventure...

Gua Tempurung which is located at Gopeng, Perak is about 30 minutes drive from Ipoh. The surroundings are pretty untouched though some facilities are being constructed for tourism purposes.

From the ticketing counter; we have several routes to choose 1 to 4 with 1 being the easiest and 4 the toughest and longest route! We chose the 3rd route instead as we have 2 elderly folks tagging along and because this route also includes wading through water....an experience that we hope to try out!

Before entering, I was given a warning on taking my camera "Nikki" along as the route we're taking might damage my camera but feeling that it would be a waste without going in with "Nikki" to capture the moments; I disobeyed their good intention advice.

Early into the cave we're already sweating; might be due to the humidity level there and also the long stairs climb. Manage to view lot's of beautifully shaped figures like human heads, legs, animals, dinosaurs etc but didn't manage to capture it as it's too far from my flash reach! :(

Most of the tour is really dark where torchlights are required! Our tour guide even gave us a try out pure darkness feeling when he asked everyone to switch off our torchlights and it's really pitched black! Then came the first challenging moment whereby we have to walk off the man made trail to a small crack in the cave wall to move to another location...luckily for me am not that big a size which I can go through but with assistance of course as the slope is slippery. There was even once when the route that we need to take is a 60 degrees slope which we need to slide down...OUCH!! Seriously not for the faint hearted....

There were several locations where we have to wade through ankle deep water though the water is clear and cold but it might have leeches in it as I got 1 stuck on my hand!!! Urggghh! There are also places where you have to squat down to move or even try to crawl as the ceiling is that low till your whole body is wet! Now I should have heed the warning about my camera but luckily I was prepared with several plastic bags to cover it...

Overall it's a tiring yet pleasurable experience which one must try if you're into adventures but beware of what you take inside as it would be soaked wet! Recommend to get a compact camera that is water resistant as it is really beautiful inside that cave to be stored as memory...

Remaining days in Perth as well as in Australia...caught up with another friend or shall i say ex-colleague; Kelvin which we have worked together before way back in 2001 in Penang Citibank. Those were fun times we had where we enjoyed each others company going rounds even during office hours....hahahaha....oooppsss....Was good to catch up as we reminicise the good old days we had....

Touring the city as well as chilling out in some pubs as well and restaurants to enjoy the delicacies in Perth was the main itenary before my flight back to Singapore and then back to Malaysia :(

Not much update from Perth as spent most time at my friends place and just chilling out. The only note was that we went to try out a Western Australias famous joint 4 seafood Cicerello's and it is really good...the seafood is fresh and cook to perfection. Must try and please be there early as you really need to queue up for food!

Managed to catch up with a Malaysian fren and his family which just recently migrated there for about 6 months and they seem to be enjoying their life there...should I consider migrating too? Hmmmm....

Woke up about 6AM as my flight is 9.15AM and took nearly 30 mins to prepare before hitting the bus stop. The bus was on time and when we reach the train station it was already near 8AM. Got a bologne for breakfast at the train station but before I had time to bite, I was told the train to the airport is not functional today and I have to grab a shuttle bus instead! WTH!!! I rushed with my big luggage bag to the bus station which is about 10 minutes walk and search high and low before finding the right bus. Luckily the bus is departing and I was just on time.

It took the bus about 30 minutes to reach the airport instead of 10 minutes from the train and boy am I running late.....therefore alighted from the bus and ran straight to the check in counter. Luckily Virgin has more than 10 counters and they open 2 counters for last minute check in customers. Once checked in, I quickly grab some bite of my bologne and YUCK! it's too salty for my taste...I discarded in and went and grab Krispy Creme doughnut instead and boy oh boy it was great...sorry I didnt take any photos as I was rushing...

Was on time as when I reached the boarding gate, its already boarding time and yippie! ON TIME! Didnt miss my flight and I am impressed with the layout of the plan of Virgin instead of Jetstar as it's a Boeing 737 instead of Airbus A320 for the latter. The leg room is much more roomier and more comfortable. Love it! Next time, Virgin Blue for me but I don't think they fly Malaysia :( Anyways it was a comfortable 5 hours flight from Sydney to Perth and when landed, my fren Alan came and pick me up. So nice of him....

Alan took me to lunch at a local dim sum restaurant and it was quite nice though not as good as the 1 in Sydney and then he took me around the Swan River location where I had some great shots of the city as well as nice mansions that costs about AUD8-9 million each! wow...wonder when I can own 1...hehehhe

We got back to his place later and rested before heading out for some karaoke session and club! Metro is really a very good club if your into R&B as well as Hip-Hop...also lots of Asian with hot chicks!!! ^_^

Was an all night out clubbing, thats why when we woke up it's already about 11am and instead of going to Sydneys famous Bondai beach we just went to the city for a short stroll and had dim sum instead. By that time we reach the restaurant it's about 3pm already and they seem to be shutting off the kitchen but luckily some of their delicacies still available.

The service was quite good but by 3.30pm all the staffs left us on our own as they went for their own lunch....what a sight to behold as they gather around eating hungrily...hahahha...seems like they have not eaten for days. Anyways after that just strolling around awhile longer before heading back to prepare another nite of club!

The Journey : Day 10 Australia : Sydney City

Day 10 in Australia and Sydney is kind off HOT compared to Melbourne...probably it's higher North? Anyways walking in Sydney is still a breeze compared to Malaysia :P as I don't sweat that much. We started off with Sydney Fish Market which is famous for their fresh seafood and it's really fresh! Shared a seafood platter for 2, half dozen fresh raw oyster as well as half grilled lobster! We had it by the marina...nice view with sea breeze though it's infested with hungry seagulls which will try to snatch your food if given a chance...

Then we made our way to Underwater World and it's really fascinating...so far the best that I've seen and I've been told it's the best in Australia and probably the southern hemisphere? Anyways you judge it by visiting. The reason I love it was because it's big with lots of different species of fishes and inclusive some crustaceans & crocs as well as snakes; not forgetting large tanks with huge sharks...spent almost 6 hours there :D

The Journey : Day 9 Australia : Sydney City

Day 2 in Sydney was an eye opener as I will be visiting the famous Opera House...yeay! After taking breakfast at home (toast & fried egg sunny side up-my fren can cook wor!), we took the bus to the city and from there about 15 minutes walk towards Sydney Harbour. It's a sight to behold...from one side you see a beautifully crafted Opera House and the other Sydney Harbour Bridge with fresh sea breeze blowing at your face and also clear blue sky as backdrop....AMAZING!!

While moving nearer towards the harbour we noticed 2 Aboriginals working hard to attract people to their location to have pictures taken with them but most importantly selling their CD music at AUD10 per pc! I bought 1 as I felt that music is really cool using their "trumpet" which I've forgotten the name and mixture of techno music....Later on we moved to our lunch at Sailors Thai which serves delicious thai food overlooking the harbour...

The day was mostly used up by snapping photos around Sydney Harbour and before leaving home my friend introduced me to a cafe called Lindts which is also the famous chocolate manufacture from Swiss. I ordered a Ice Chocolate (Dark) and it was fantastic...the drink its filled with chocolate to the max and and with the mixture of ice, it feels heavenly....the sweetness, the chocolateness (if there were such a word)....WOW!!!!

Last day in Melbourne...going to miss this place but yet another adventures await me in Sydney. Anyways was hoping to move about the city more like going to St Patricks Cathedral and Queen Victoria Gardens but I was stopped by rain :( what a way to end my journey in Melbourne. Since it rained, I went to grab an early lunch and packed all my stuffs. Went to Southern Cross Station earlier by tram and grab a shuttle bus ticket to Avalon airport which is about 60km from the city. The shuttle bus costs me AUD20!

It took the bus about 45 minutes to reach the airport where I checked in my luggage quickly and wait for my flight by Jetstar. It was on time as usual and we're all prepared for take off at 3.15pm.

BYE BYE MELBOURNE!

Reached Sydney airport about an hour plus and once I got off the plane, I went searching for the bus that's supposed to take me to my friends place. I looked high and low for about 30 minutes and I can't seem to find the bus at all and it seems not many people around there are familiar with the bus or so I thought. I was about to give up and take a cab when I saw the bus my friend described a yellow colour bus named Hillbus which is the only bus company that goes to my friends place at Carlingford.

I quickly raced towards the bus but it was not a legal bus stop but after several plead with the driver, he let me up and even showed me where next time i should grab the bus from....opppss seems like I already did something illegal on my first day in Sydney. I bought a weekly ticket as advised from my friend as it's expensive to get a trip ticket which costs AUD5 per trip! The weekly ticket costs AUD40 only.

It took the bus about an hour to reach my friends place as the jam in the city was quite bad although they have dedicated bus lane. I guess probably due to rush hour since it's time for the people to go back. Stopped at the right bus stop luckily thanks to a gal in the bus that guided me. The bus stop is weird as it's in the middle of a highway where it has stairs connecting down to the road below to residential area. My friend came over to help me grab my luggage and we walked back to his place which is only 5 minutes walk.

After some rest and catching up we head back to the city again and he brought me to a restaurant called Bavarian Cafe. Nice and cozy place and it's packed even for a Tuesday night! We oreded a Schnitzel each; a very large pork in deep fried with fries that can easily fit for 2 person! Since it's Tueday, the joint runs a promotion for it which costs only AUD15 and if 1 person can finish 1 of it, we're given a free shot of spirit! We both managed to finish our dish within 30 minutes or more and my it's really stuffed. Ordered a couple more German beers and we're off to another happening joint called 3 Wise Monkeys and it's packed as everyone was celebrating St Patricks day!

Day 7 sees me going about the city of Melbourne visiting tourist attraction locations such as the Southern Cross Station (apologies pic not available as not too nice), Eureka Skydeck, Melbourne 360 as well as Korean dinner with my family.

Eureka Skydeck 88; the highest tower in Southern Australia has a lift that can take you up to the top floor in 36 seconds if I'm not mistaken. You'll be amazed at the speed. Also at the peak of the building as you can from the picture that it has some parts which is gold in color and you are not mistaken as it is really made of pure 18k gold! WOW! Talk about building plated with gold! To get up there you're required to pay a fee of AUD 16.50 and once you reach the top you have a magnificent view of Melbourne City 360 degrees.

They have a beautiful lounge and visitor seating area as well as fully glass panel to have great view over the city. The building also comes with another attraction whereby a small portion of it has a mechanism that can extend out of the building in a 3X3 m glass box which they named it The EDGE! It's a full glass box whereby bottom, side & up are all made of glasses and it's an exhilarating experience though it comes with an additional cost of AUD 12 and if you require your photo taken in there, it would cost another AUD 15 per photo.

As for Melbourne 360 it is also another high rise building with 360 degrees view of Melbourne and it costs only AUD 14 with additional promotion whereby you're allowed to come back on the same day to have a night view which sadly i did not go :( At night time me and my family gathered to have a nice and wonderful Korean BBQ meal at Chinatown which is simply delicious to the last drop :D

We moved out of my sisters new place on Day 6 as it's inconvenient from her place to take public transport to move about. We stayed in a motel within the city and it's quite affordable as the price is about AUD130 for a room for 4.

Walking around the city taking some shots and also visited Queen Victoria Market; which is another popular tourist attraction. I felt that it's not as special as what the brochures claimed to be as it's just another market but with a very pricey tag for all its goods.

In the afternoon, I took a train to another suburb Belgrave but it was raining heavily halfway and since it's going to be another 45 minutes ride, I stopped at Boxhill; which most Chinese residents resides. Moved about the suburb for quite awhile....and I found out that most of the marketing/signs are written in Chinese....

I later headed off to Sandringham....a beachside to view the sunset and it was amazing as you can see from the picture below. It was really chilly as the Antartic wind blew towards the beach. I tried to withstand the strong wind by wearing my windbreaker but it seems the cold wind is so strong that it eats through it. Well since I can't get such nice chilly wind back in Malaysia; might as well endour it and enjoy the sunset.

I stayed on about an hour before I left as it's already too cold when the sun disppears from the horizon and left for Melbourne city freezing off my ears and hands....brrrrrr

The Journey : Day 5 Australia : Melbourne City

It's already my 5th day in Australia and time is really running fast when one enjoys himself huh? This time around will be moving about within the city instead as we already sent back the rented car. So it will be walking and taking public transport only. Though it seems that it's complicated and tiring; it's really not if you're doing it in Melbourne city as the design of the roads within the CBD is like a rectangular shape and most of the tourist attractions maximum walking time takes less than 30 minutes.

Moreover they do provide free shuttle bus to popular tourist attractions with bus drivers providing valuable histories and insights of the locations and same goes to the free city tour tram. Now thats what I call hospitality for tourism. Also they have information centre which is a big complex with all the information required to get around the city as well as the suburbs. Melbourne also allocates friendly volunteers around the city that patrols around to help tourists get to places they want.

Now thats what I call great hospitality to boost tourism.

The Journey : Day 4 Australia : Sovereign Hill

The journey to Ballarat which is west of Melbourne took us nearly an hour. The attraction that we came for is Sovereign Hill; an open air museum that was recreated based on the 1850's when Gold was first found at the location. Sovereign Hill is an interesting attraction for visitors albeit the hefty fee of AUD 37.50 for adult not inclusive of rides and other tours inside. For me I feel it's worth it as you are transported back to the 1850's time zone as there are people dressed up in clothes of the era while working.

The Journey : Day 3 Australia : Great Ocean Road

Day 3 started off with helping my sister to move some stuffs to her new house and then we're off to see 1 of the most scenic coastline in Australia which is the Great Ocean Road.

Wikipidea : The Great Ocean Road is a 243 km stretch of road along the south-eastern coast of Australia between the Victorian cities of Torquay and Warrnambool. The road was constructed to provide work for returning soldiers and dedicated as a Memorial to those killed in the First World War.

The Great Ocean Road was built by 3000 returned servicemen (or "Diggers") as a war memorial for fellow servicemen who had been killed in the First World War.
The idea for the road was suggested as far back as 1864. Surveying began in 1918 and construction took place between 1919 and 1932.
Parts of the Great Ocean Road run around steep coastal mountains. These were the trickiest and the final sections to be built.
In 1922 the section from Eastern View to Lorne was completed.
In 1932 the section from Lorne to Apollo Bay was finished, thus completing the entire road.

The journey using The Great Ocean Road is not easy as the curves and the slopes are everywhere....as 1 mistake would prove fatal for inexperienced drivers. The view was simply amazing and lot's of historical sites for tourists to stop by to enjoy the story behind the history.

The main attraction at The Great Ocean Road is the Twelve Apostles which by the time we visited left only 7. The Twelve Apostles are a collection of limestones stacks off the shore and was created by waves eroding the cliffs ages ago. As time passes on The Twelve became Seven as it succumbed to its creators as well. Visitors to Victoria should visit this marvel before it all eventually disappears.

There is also a historical site where a ship W.B. Godfrey wreckage was still located though we're not lucky to view it as it is only viewable during low tide. We did managed to move about the location to find intriguing colors of rock formation. The wreckage seems to be of significant history to Victorians as this location has also been tragedy to a few other ships which tried to salvage the W.B Godfrey and of course which the remains of W.B. Godfrey still remains.

We never finished the total journey of the Great Ocean Road as it was getting late although the sun is still shining brightly at 6pm. Our last stop was at Port Campbell which is a small town about 10 km from the Twelve Apostles. We order "fish & chips" to go as we try to get back to Melbourne before dark as the journey is quite exhaustive as we took nearly 6 hours to cover almost 3/4 of the road with some stop over for sightseeing.

Althought exhaustive it was a great sight to behold of the old coastline road and it's recommended visitors to at least take 2 days to fully enjoy the whole strecth.

The Journey : Day 2 Australia : Phillip Island

Phillip Island, a southern part of Melbourne which is famous for their little penguins coming out from their hiding place during dusk. This is where our 2nd day road trip/journey and it's kinda far; more so when we're not familiar with the road. My dad is driving while I'm the co-driver looking up the map to move and we succeeded in less than 2 hours covering about 170km.

We arrived in a small fishing town called San Mora before crossing the bridge over to the island to have our afternoon snack which my mum already prepared earlier before. Was a good lunch by the sea as you can smell fresh sea air while feeling the sea breeze blowing at your face and hearing the waves crashing down on the beach....

Once lunch was done, we drove to the island and visited the Wildlife Park as the price to visit Koala Park is AUD$10 to see Koala only while the Wildlife Park has about 100 species of bird and animals and it's just worth AUD$15. A wonderful trip overall but mostly kangaroos and their family species and also every native birds and animals to Australia.

We skipped the Penguin Parade as well as it's AUD$20 per person and not allow any type of photography as well as video recording. Therefore we just move about the island visiting the many beautiful surf beaches and the beaches around the island before taking the long journey back.

The Journey : Day 1 Darwin->Melbourne->Geelong

Singapore to Melbourne transit via Darwin at 10.30pm flight. It was kind of QH to send me to airport ( so called send me off :P ). Quickly checked in and then grab a quick ramen dinner at Terminal 1 where I'll be flying with Jetstar.

Reached Darwin around 5.30am Darwin local time...was not able to sleep much as the sit is upright and yea, you can't lower it at all! Was still half asleep while going through the customs clearance. After clearing everything, went for a quick bite at the cafe there while sipping the hot chocolate as it's freezing in the airport even though its small. Lift off around 8.15am and reached Melbourne 2pm Melbourne time. All in all it took almost 12 hours to reach Melbourne from Singapore!!! :(

My parents rented a nice Toyota and awaited me and my brother at Toumaline airport. The Toyota is known as Corolla Ascent while Malaysian knows it as Altis. It's a powerful car and really good 2 move about on OZ roads since it's Freeway connecting within cities are far and apart. We moved directly to Geelong; second largest city in Victoria. Just cruise through by the sea side and take some snap shots before going back to my sisters place.

The Journey : Singapore

Reached Singapore via AEROLINE bus around 11pm and carrying such a heavy ( about 19kg )luggage trying to find a cab when to my surprise my dearest fren/host; Qian Hwei showed up! She's so sweet...came all the way to the bus stop point to "pick me" which is easily about 9 MRT stations from her place. We took a cab to her place and then we went to East Coast Park to have my dinner. She took 3 days of leave to accompany my stay in Singapore...how fortunate of me! GOD sent fren :D

On the next day, woke up early in the morning and we went to Jurong Bird Park and was supposedly to visit the Zoo but the weather was not permitting. Therefore we visited a small Botanical Garden instead after the rain stops as it was too late to visit the Zoo. We visited Night Safari later on and met an ex-colleague there.

The next day we revisited the Zoo again and was amazed with the animals there. It took us about half day to finish the whole Zoo. We later went to Toa Payoh to visit my aunt and my cousins which they celebrated my niece and my birthday by treating a delicious seafood hawker dinner...We later adjourned to Clarke Quay; a famous hang out location in Singapore for some drinks and some photoshoot. My dearest host surprise me with a birthday cake and we celebrated just by the river....thanx again QH!!!

The following day was my last day in Singapore and we were off to the Waterworld which is located in Singapore where we also had a fantastic view of the famous Merlion. After that was rushing off back to pack for my trip to Melbourne.

A City Called Ipoh...

Was back to my hometown; Ipoh last weekend as I need to visit my grandmother who is hospitalised. Luckily she has been recovering since my previous visit which is a couple of days back before the weekend and all is thanks to my friends & relatives prayers.

Since I'm back; might as well take the opportunity to try out some delicacies which I've been missing out for quite sometime and of course Ipoh is famous for none other than their "kai si hor fun" which means flat noodles soup with steam chicken....yummy...even mentioning the name already making my tummy growls....I'm already missing it while typing this. The chicken served is so tender and juicy while the brean sprouts are fat and juicy as well. The flat noodle taste superb with it's sweet soup.

I also take the opportunity to try out a beer that has brought into reputation from Ipoh itself; so I heard. It's called "Snow Beer". I find it quite odd at first when the beer was served as it looks all icy & foamy as you can see in the picture; therefore dubbed the name "Snow Beer". It's actually normal beer which has been chilled and served with chilled glass. Tasted better than normal though as I feel it's much smoother and less gassy.

I guess this is the 4th time my Facebook account got deactivated. Yea, sure my first 3 accounts was definitely my mistake due to not listening to them by replying my message non stop but why put the blame on me? Aint Facebook a social utility tool? What's a social utility tool if you have limits ( which cannot be disclosed for whatever reason ) to adding friends, poking, replying messages etc....This has got me frustrated. I remember joining a discussion board in regards to this issue and later the discussion board applications has been deleted. It's like there ain't no democracy here ( to them it's like us holding an illegal gathering )...

I wrote to them for my previous accounts and even tried appealing serveral times but they always came back with the same answer " We will not be able to reactivate your account for any reason. This decision is final." It's basically a written software to response to anyone that tries for an appeal. I'm wondering what is the point of even writing to them if they were to response that way right? Last time at least the response time was faster which is within the same day or the next business day but this time, it took them 3 business days! Guess the service level drops as time goes by.

Anyways anyone uses Facebook please be wary about the limitations. By the way, I am not writing because of me hating Facebook. I love it but they should give us users some slack. My new account is as follows : -

As of yesterday evening about 6pm....my Facebook account was deactivated. For what reason I do not know and I've already written an email to the administrator. Hope to receive some good news by today if I can still be awake.

Yea....I've been working till now...yupz...since yesterday morning 9am till now 3am and yet my work is still not done. Wondering why I'm blogging instead of continuing my work? Well...my brain is frozen still and I need time out to refresh myself but since its already 3.25am...I guess I might as well get some shut eye as I need to be early to prepare more stuffs before handing over the project documents by 12pm!

Recent Monday night caught up with my old school mate/ long time buddy Kar Wing before he leaves for Perth at 1 Utama Shopping Centre. He was with his parents doing some last minute souvenir shopping for his friends and colleagues back at Australia.

We decided to grab our dinner at Dragon-i but not the 1 in 1 Utama but instead at Centrepoint. Therefore we move back to his brothers place which is 2 minutes drive away and wait till his brother is back before we all go in 1 car to Centrepoint.

When we arrived there is already about 9pm. There was not much crowd left, probably about 5 tables only. This means faster and better service. We quickly ordered our meal as we're already starving....and the foods were served within minutes.

We basically ordered some noodles and rice and of course their famous Xiao Long Bao. Apologies as I did not have the time to jot down the food names as I was already too hungry. Those of you that have tasted Dragon i might already know the names of the dishes as shown in the picture below. The dishes we ordered were simply delicious! This can be said so especially on their Xiao Long Bao. More information on Xiao Long Bao can be read at Wikipidea.

To do that I need to go somewhere safe and great environment and I was recommended to go PUTRAJAYA on the first day itself when I got "her". Therefore off to PUTRAJAYA. It takes about 45 minutes drive from PETALING JAYA and seriously it's a long journey indeed. 45 minutes in jam seems short but in highway it's quite far yea....Anyways I reached PUTRAJAYA around 5 something and here are some shots. Had not even been 3 hours since i bought Nikki, my cousin, Stan Lee invited me for dinner. He came all the way to KL to visit his fren who is going back to US. Since he had not tried the delicious seafood in KLANG, I convinced him to go there for a try. Went to THE CURVE to fetch him and off we go!

Reached there less than 30 minutes and those of you who are familiar with THE CURVE and TELOK GONG, it takes longer than that to reach and yes I kinda flew :P Anyways I didn't go to the more popular restaurant "Coconut Flower" as it would have been packed by now (usually packed by 6pm as we reached nearly 7pm) but instead went to another quite famous restaurant "Restoran Makanan Laut Telok Gong". They are both just side by side.

Went to look for a place and managed to get a nice table just beneath the fan and it's recommended to look for such a place as later in the evening you will have mosquitoes attacking you. Even though they have those mosquitoe coil, I prefer not to have those as I believe it kills me faster than killing those mozzies :P

We order coconuts as the waitress claims that its fresh and also fried beehoon with tiny clams, bamboo clams, mantis prawn as well as steam "ang chor". Apologies as I do not know how the bamboo clams and mantis prawn were cooked but I guess you can view it from the photos. As for the fish, I cant recall the English name for it.

After taking the order, I quickly whip up Nikki to take some shots of the sun setting but it was too late as the sun has already been covered mostly by the coconut trees and therefore only managed to snap the orangy red color of whats left of a sunset.

Our dishes came quite fast which is less than 10 minutes....what a surprise even though that time was already half full of patrons. The dishes is freshly cooked and hot and I love the fried beehoon! It's just so tasty especially with the little clams in it....probably I was too hungry from the 30 minutes drive :P

The bamboo clam was quite nice although it has that pungent smell of sea water taste. I think they should have added more ginger in it. The mantis prawn was cooked to perfection although i prefer to be cooked in dried chili but this cooking style is crispy and very sweet. As for the fish, it's quite big for the 2 of us but we managed 2 clear it up as we're both fish lovers. Was cooked in Hakka Steam style where you get the soury taste and the fish meat still feels fresh and tender.

The only disappoinment overall was the coconut as you can see it's not a fresh coconut but a packed coconut and the taste seems weird as well as the meat taste funny. Overall was a good meal as its not really pricey for the dishes we had. They charge us in total RM 88 only. Anyways if anyone interested, you can try to look for this place. Last Saturday, I awoke earlier than usual on a weekend as I promised my kai che, Alice to take her for a dimsum breakfast. Was supposed to go SERI PETALING to eat but that restaurant I used to go is no longer there and therefore went to my friends place at TAMAN DESA instead. After had a filling breakfast, I invited Alice to check out the price of a camera that I was eyeing since I got into photography.

Upon arriving at AMCORP MALL, we buzz through the busy crowd and came to a shop "J One Camera Service". It's a highly recommended shop by forumers and Nikon lovers alike if you're intending to get a Nikon camera but they do sell some Canon models as well. Was checking out the prices and comparing between a D90 and a D60 and it really took me awhile before I decided for the D60 instead.

Reason I chose the D60 is that it's more suitable for me as I've not handled a DSLR before and it's ligther as well since I'm getting a heavier lens from Nikkon ( 18 - 200 mm VR ) as well as an external flash ( SB600 ). It was a very satisfying purchase even though it's quite a heavy investment for me but I think it's well worth it after the test shots that I've done (pictures will be uploaded shortly). Wedding Dinner @ Perangsang Templer Golf Club..

My ex-colleague; Mr Navin held a wedding dinner reception tonite at Perangsang Templer Golf Club located at Templer Park, Rawang. I was invited and since I do not know how to go Rawang as it's been ages since I visited or pass by ( if you do not count the North South Expressway ). Therefore I asked Nor to tag along as my co-driver so that she can check the map while I drive and yes I did ask confirmation from Navin for a partner to tag along.

The dinner function were to start at 7.30pm but I only managed to leave my house at 7pm! Anyways since it's Malaysia and we're typical late for wedding dinners right? :P The drive to Rawang was quite good even though I'm using the old trunk road ( Jalan Ipoh ) though there were a bit more cars near Selayang side but all in all was a smooth traffic. So smooth till we missed our U-Turn to get into Templer Park. Managed to get another U-Turn later part of the road and we managed to reach by 7.40pm....what a feat!

It's situated in a nice location as most of the places are filled with trees! My kind of place...really cooling and relaxing place it seems. I heard they do have a nice waterfall nearby ( might want to try out the next trip ). Anyways I was not the last guest to arrive ( probably 1 of the earliest as well ) since the hall is less than half full and there were people slowly moving in. Entrance was greeted by 6 beautiful ladies with sweets and sprinklers. I'm still trying to figure out the sweets for but the sprinkler is something to do with blessing?

Anyways, met up with Navins sister for a quick catch up before getting a table. We're seated with 1 of the camera mans family member. Therefore in the table only 4 of us ( not inclusive of the cameraman ). Luckily we did not reach earlier as the wedding officially started around 8.40pm! It seems they have to wait for some VIPs to arrive first. :(

The dinner started off with Navin + wife (Subaashnii) & family members walking through red carpet & speech about his past from his uncle. Quite a long speech but humorous. Luckily for me I had Mc D earlier around 4 something in the evening. If not I would have been really grumpy by then :P The speech was then continued with cake cutting ceremony and a toast from the newlyweds! We started our dinner only around 9.30pm!

Dinner was buffett style and it's of course served Indian Delicacies. I didn't managed to jot down the names but what I had was some spicy chicken, sambal prawn & several curry veges. The food was quite good actually as we're the 1 of the few first to get it since our table so close to the buffet section ( by the way, we did not intentionally seat there as since we're not chapperons for the newlyweds, we need to seat quite far from the stage but luckily enough near the buffet section ).

After dinner, Navin was asked to sing a Malay Song ( I really do not know what song was that ) & he is a real good singer. Not only that, he & his wife was to dance and he really can dance to the beat. The newlyweds really look adorable and suit each other ( as you can agree with me from the photos ). Pass him my gift to him and thanking him for dinner and then we left.

The huge lake we fished

On an early Saturday morning, my cousin (Stan Lee) MSN me asking whether we're doing any fishing since I'm back to Ipoh? I was thinking why not since it's a Saturday and none of my relatives are back for the CNY celebration and it has been awhile since my rod has seen any action....I think the last was early 2008. Wow! Almost a year already....

Stan Lee came over to pick me up around 10am and we went to a coffeeshop nearby my house at Canning Garden to have breakfast. I was shocked to see the coffeeshop packed! Then it came to me...long holidays for the Chinese New Year break... Managed to get a seat after a minute of waiting...yea...considered lucky...We had wan tan mee and egg custards! Yummy!

Then we're off...it took us nearly 40 minutes to reach our destination...and for Ipoh standard... it's really far away. Well it's Batu Gajah after all, a town of its own and nearest landmark I can recall is Clearwater Sanctuary. We had to pass through lots of rubber and oil palm plantation estates and I was impressed with the road pavements that has been done here as it's all brand new FREEWAY quality roads.

I was amazed with the number of ponds you can see going through the FREEWAY and when we arrived, the lake we're supposed to fish is just beside the FREEWAY. Wow...talk about convenience for casual fishing. About 50 metres odd from the lake is the Batu Gajah train station and seriously I didn't even know that there is any train station at Batu Gajah at all. We quickly alighted and prepare our equipments for fishing.

Stan Lee had 3 standard size rods and with another 12 feet extendable rod for reaching hard to get places. Talk about "kiasu"...hahahhaa...while i had 2 standard size rods. Anyways I also do believe with a wild lake such as this, the more rods, the better chances. By the way, the lake is quite clear with lots of storks as well. Shows that is a good fishing ground especially since these birds likes fish for food. We were only using earthworms as baits and we rigged 3 with float while another 2 for bottom fishing.

Stan Lee even used a stick and converted it to a fishing pole. Ancient fishing style.....before fishing rods was invented and he caught lots of small fishes ranging from 3 inches to palm sized. Not sure what fishes they were with yellowish body with black stripes and a black dot near its tail. Looks like from the chiclid family type of fish which is a family for our local tilapias. After about an hour 1 of Stan Lee's float has a nibble and he quickly strike...quite a fight there with light tackle....got it up and to our surprise a beautiful 1 foot Tilapia....not bad for a wild pond thats beside the FREEWAY as usually these kind of places would be overfished.

Another 30 minutes or so, my bottom fishing tackle got a strong jerk and luckily my rod did not went into the lake....would be a nightmare then....I quickly rushed over and had a quick strike and felt nothing...probably the hook didn't managed to latch itself? As I reel in I felt there was some resistance...more of like pulling in water feeds feeling. Hope begins to arise and then when it was up, I was happy to see a 1.5 foot Haruan/Snakehead. It's been awhile since I caught any fish at these wild places and such a good sized fish is even rare.

After my fish there were no more actions but Stan Lee still manages to catch those weird small sized fishes. We left around 4.15pm as it's getting too hot ( I actually got sun burnt on my neck, face and hands! ) and also very hungry as we did not pack lunch. On the way back, Stan Lee decided to use the highway from Simpang Pulai to Ipoh and to our surprised we were caught in a massive jam. We were stuck all the way 2 km from the Ipoh toll :(

All in all, was a wonderful trip and thanks to Stan Lee....I renew my faith in fishing again.

Company Dinner @ Red Box, The Gardens Mid Valley City...

On 16th January 2009, our company decided to host our company annual dinner at Red Box. Seriously? Red Box? Company dinner in January?? Yupz! You heard that right! The reason is that our company financial closes on 31 January of every year....therefore January is our year end! Why Red Box? I was still puzzling as it's a location for karaoke....not everyone sings right?

Anyways it was supposed to start at 6pm but with typical Friday evening and location at Mid Valley City...we were all late! The earliest was already there earlier as they were having 'appointments' over at the location as well and the latest came in about 8 something! GOSH! See how bad the traffic is on Friday evening at KL?

Once about 1/3 of the group were in which is about 7pm already, we couldn't wait for the rest and just went to grab our meals....after all it's buffett style...FIFO (First In, First Out) right? hahahaha....Quite a normal meal they serve, mostly local delicacies (something more of economy rice style) apart from oyster & sushi (both which is not fresh!), salad bar & some desserts and fruits which i dare not to try....

The room that they provided can easily fit more than 40 person easily as we had 35 pax and there is still lots of space around....A decently decorated room with sofas, a couple of plasma tvs, a projector screen for Nintendo Wii Console & another projector screen for Karaoke and it comes with a private toilet as well!

Red Box actually provided an in house game of using chopstick to carry marbles/stars to a destination as well as a guessing game.....really funny...as each individual who tries 2 emulate words that are written on a sheet of paper especially on color...

Overall it was fun as I managed to get some nice presents .... it was actually better than the year before party where it was held on a crappy place :P No complaints apart from the food though as it's just not fresh and really not worth it...per head count its about RM100++ from what I heard...

A backdated blog indeed....hahaha...well it was a weekend and yea...am working...as i am attending a roadshow at mid valley (property fair if I remember correctly). Tried to grab a quick breakfast and most of the shops arount ain't open. Therefore might as well try TOAST BOX since it's open and I've yet to try before. Heard that it was quite good.

Therefore went there and was amazed that during 9.30am on a Saturday morning, it's near packed and have to queue up before I can even order. I guess maybe it has something to do with self service? Once reach the counter, ordered the French Toast Set and the Standard Toast Set. Each set comes with a drink and 2 half boiled eggs costing RM6.90 per set not inclusive of service charge as well as government tax.

Egg and drinks was served instantly while the toast have to wait about 2 minutes. The egg was not bad but it's more hard boild than half boiled. The coffee was actually below average only. It's like drinking a very diluted coffee. As for the toast breads, the standard was quite good with kaya and butter while the french toast is simply horrible. It has a certain pungent smell to it and tasted very weird. At first I thought was the butter but the standard toast has butter as well. Therefore it's concluded the cooking oil used to make the french toast that makes it pungent smell (really not a recommendation to try at all).

Overall it's OK for a quick bite but I think Mc Donalds would have been a better choice especially with that price and the quality of food thats being served. By the way, the outlet I tried was at Mid Valley Megamall North Court.

It was 2 days before Christmas of 2008 and my boss decided to treat us LUNCH after our HOD meeting. Royal China Restaurant @ Jalan Ampang was decided to be the venue as it's quite close to our office and since Tim Sum is in all our mind....YummY! Moreover a nice and expensive lunch for the HOD should be able to calm our nerves and worth our while since we all just got "shot" all over our body from the directors.

I guess for the next HOD meeting, I really need to prepare an armour much stronger than Kevlar....any ideas? Anyways back to this yummy feast...Royal China Restaurant is part of Tai Thong Group of Restaurants and they are famous for their Chinese Delicacies especially Tim Sum.

The food that's good are the duck dish with pork (char siew + siew yuk), fishball, prawn dumpling, "siew mai" & the noodle as it's freshly cooked from the oven and you can literally taste the freshness of the meat! yea...i'm a meat lover! :P

The rest was average only as it's nothing special and from my point of view the worst is the '"tow foo fa" as it's not smooth and it has some strange smell to it :( For a table of 7 people, the bill came out to be almost RM250! I guess if we're to come again for tim sum, it must be on company pay roll as it's quite a heavy price unless those that have too much money and do not know where to spend on. I rather go back Ipoh to eat as it's much better and you can even eat till ur dead with that kind of price tag!

BBQ Chicken - Koreas No.1 Chicken Restaurant Barbeque....so they claim :P

Tried their outlet at Jaya One as the tagline simply hits me and probably cause they serve chicken as well? ahahaha...well i'm a CHICKEN meat fan....Anything goes with Chicken definitely attracts me....by the way when i mentioned Chicken as in Fowl OK? Apologies as I have to emphasise due to some friends different mindset :D

Starters, the price was quite attractive as the set lunch we had was quite affordable...I mean for a set lunch at about RM 14 that comes with a drink, chicken meal set with coleslaw as well as fries plus an ice cream for dessert? Seriously it couldn't get any better or could it? The staff was very friendly albeit quite clueless about the menu (at least she apologised as she's still new)....

We sat down just quite near the front as it's brighter...love the natural light that is directed in the premise with a good set of glasses around....but on the setback is like your actually feeling like a fish in an aquarium being watched while eating :P anyways the deco for the restaurant is simple yet nicely decorated...much better than desserts bar. Comfortable seats and the premise can easily seat for 30pax with much comfort though during that time there were a bunch of ladies laughing away loudly near our table....did i say ladies? hmmm.... :P

Luckily for us the crowd ain't many ...only about 3 tables and therefeore we quickly ordered our meal and before 3 minutes we received our drinks and soup... the soup for the set lunch was corn soup and it tastes quite good ....sweet enough for me...next come our main meal which is freshly served...

The Jerk BBQ is made of a whole leg chicken ( quite small for my standard ) which is soury and spicy but if you blend in together with the fresh coleslaw and the softly fried fries; perfecto! As for the other dish is the Korean Charboiled; a 2 piece tender leg chicken meat cooked with natural spices as described in their menu is simply juicy and tender and it also comes with fresh coleslaw and fries...

We finished our meal less than 10 minutes with filled up tummy....yummy and then came our dessert...i wanted a chocolate ice cream ( my favourite )but the staff insisted they only have strawberry... i wonder if its true but i guess i we have to finish it anyways since it would be a waste if not eaten rite? :D it was nothing to shout about as i feel the ice cream does not have that spongy feeling to it at all....

Overall, the meal was affordable and worth every cents even though the chicken is a bit smaller & we do not have choice of ice cream flvour but with the drinks, dessert, coleslaw and fries; 1 would be contented with the filling meal... well I am a small eater :P

Recommended for chicken lovers if you have yet to try as it's really worth it and with the comfortable ambience to take your partner as well cause it has this classy feel (well compared to normal stalls - though i'm not against those stalls)

Visited Dessert's Bar located @ Solaris Mont Kiara together with my buddy WING while awaiting 4 our dinner at Tenji... This is my second visit as the previous was with my "Ah Ma" few months back which I was not into blogging yet.

We were seated at the sofa that's quite near the entrance as I wanted to seat somewhere close to a powerpoint to use my laptop as well as it has natural lighting and yes they do provide FREE wireless internet connection but you do need to get the password from the helpful & cheerful waiter/waitress. I quickly ordered the same drink I had the last visit I was there which is the Grapes Smoothie while Wing ordered his Orange Smoothie.

I noticed the interior is beautifully decorated even though filled with simplicity with large glasses for more natural light. It has a large red bar counter where they make the delicious smoothies for us with comfortable counter top seating as well all garnished in RED. The ambiance is quite nice apart from the soft music which is near unnoticeable....

Our drinks came shortly within 5 minutes from ordering. The color of my drink seem to be lighter than the previous trip that I came. Even though it's suppose to be made of fresh red, black and green grapes...hmmm...but the taste was still sweet + sour and as good as before. You really can feel the freshness in it. Wing did not comment much on his drink but from the looks of it, you can really see it's as delicious as it looks as well..

Strangely is that the price for both drinks is prices differently albeit quite affordable with the amount of fruits they blend to make the drinks. My smoothie is priced at RM 11 while Wings orange is priced at RM 8.

Overall a good location to hang out as it's not as packed as Starbucks and the price of the drinks is quite reasonable, fresh and healthy! The net connection has quite a decent load speed as well with friendly and cheerful staff.

As promised d photos and below will be some personal opinion of d food as well as d location of d above mentioned restaurant.

Firstly, location wise...it's situated inside Solaris Mont Kiara which is coincidentally in Mont Kiara; 1 of d more exclusive locations around in KL. Solaris Mont Kiara is developed by Sunrise group (more on Solaris Mont Kiara development ~ http://www.sunrisebhd.com/mktg/smk/main.html ) and completed about a year ago only and it's already buzzing with lot's of activities from pubs, grocery, cafes, restaurants, offices etc.

Secondly, the design and traffic flow of d restaurant...when I first stepped in, I was amazed by d neatly designed lobby though its not fantastically GRAND but good enough 2 make me feel GRAND...well probably I've not been 2 these kinda places 4 quite sometime now :P As we confirmed our reservation, 1 of d waiter guided us 2 our table which is about 1 min walking distance and yea, u will be surprised how issit that u need 2 walk 1 min? d design layout is in a way that from d lobby u have 2 pass through a balcony whereby there r seatings as well overlooking KL city and then only u r able 2 move in 2 d main dining location. Impressive deco and with well ligthed locations where is needed...d sushi bar has a good traffic flow whereby is rectangular in shape...meaning u have more space 2 move if there were quite a huge crowd and easy access 2 d foods around...spacious seating space as well...

NOW 4 d food...overall I feel it's quite FRESH which is all my point of view...d sashimi is sliced 2 a comfortable size ...while d grilled stuffs r grilled 2 perfection with d smell and taste... amongst all d dishes, i love d most is d FRESH OYSTER as well as d LOBSTER SALAD....crap...i dun think i can be a food critic as i can't described d details of d food...hahahhaa....well dun juz take my word 4 it...look at those pictures and u will understand why and if not convince try it out.....

Wing got promoted to Agency Supervisor on November 2008 after achieving minimum total revenue of RM500, 000 in sales....a feat which I've yet to reach :( Our "ah ma" wanted 2 celebrate his promotion by treating us dinner and she decided on Tenji @ Solaris Mt Kiara. Supposedly 1 of our mate is 2 go with us 2gether but since he is so bz with trying 2 get a wife in India while learning d bollywood dances as well as bathing with holy water; we opt 2 go without him ..... :D

Alice Teh (my "kai-che") was supposed 2 join us that nite but due 2 unforseen circumstances, she is unable 2 make it as well. Anyways we were there earlier as "ah ma" has booked d place for 6.30pm. We were greeted with sweet and polite staffs and they are so organised that they had a waiter showing us d way to our table which took about a minute walk? It's actually quite a long route 2 walk 2 our table but its worth it as it has an outdoor view overlooking Mt Kiara while facing KLCC location...

We were d 1st patrons there and felt simply awesome with d size of d restaurant as well as d amount of dishes of foods served. Cozy place it is till we stayed up till d closing time at 10.30pm where we were escorted out of d restaurant. Hahahhaa...

RESTORAN VICCHUDA

Was feeling hungry already around 5pm as I had an early lunch (Tmn Tun famous 'kai si hor fun') about 12pm...Therefore invited Nor 2 go 4 dinner at Restoran Vicchuda, Damansara Uptown which is famous 4 their Tom Yam soup....It's situated facing the LDP at Damansara Uptown comprising 2 shop houses....

TOMYAM CAMPUR

The last I was there was a few months back and that was during the month of Ramadhan ~ Muslim fasting month (which was packed then)... To9 d crowd aint that many but at least still occupies easily 1/4 of the shop...We took our seat at a outmost corner as its more breezy especially so since its drizzling....Another reason 4 that is that definitely I would be sweating non stop after taking d Tom Yam....dunno why but each time i take something hot, sour & spicy...I will sweat non stop :(

KANGKONG GORENG

We quickly ordered our meal after browsing through d menu...The delicacies that we ordered are Tom Yam Campur without d beef , Ayam Padprik , Kangkong Goreng, Kerabu Sotong & Telur Mata Kerbau ...all yummy stuffs! Didn't ordered fish as on a tight budget as the restaurant is oso famous 4 their fishes!

Our order arrived shortly even b4 I really had d chance 2 take some 'shots' at d internal deco of d restaurant...when i said shortly, its less than 5 mins! WOW! how do they serve these foods so fast? From wat I believe, they must have cooked it b4 hand and just heated it up...anyways since we're so hungry we juz helped ourselves on d food but of course I took some 'shots' first...

SOTONG KERABU

The Tom Yam Campur was good ( I believe could be better if they have fresh chicken and prawn in it ) even though d soup colour is a bit clearer than their Thai counterpart...I feel that they need 2 notch up a little on their spicy portion as well as d kick is not there even though I was already sweating half way through my meal...The kangkong goreng was tasty indeed with the sauce but couldn't agree on d prawn as it's not fresh enough. Ayam padprik was so-so only as I feel d chicken is not really that fresh ...The Mata Kerbau is really not up 2 standard as u cant c d MATA at all! The only dish I had no complaints is d Sotong Kerabu where d mixture of sour + soft tender squid meat is wonderful!

Btw can u guess how much d total price 4 d meal is? It's not cheap at all! It's RM 41.20 inclusive of Teh O Ais & Air Suam for drinks and it's juz a dinner for 2! :(

Apologies 4 not getting d address down but if ur from PJ or KL u should not have any problems looking 4 this Restaurant at all....if ur from Sunway going 2 1 utama via LDP it would be on ur left hand side only....just look out for it!

The sound of waterfall that soothes me

Refocusing a healthier lifestyle rather than clubbing is my objective now...therefore I started to exercise again...yupz! Though it's been awhile but somehow or rather one have to re-aligned back to its course rite? So I set up my alarm at 7AM as I wanted to go jog as well as take some nice photoshoot of the sun rising but instead I got up about 8.45AM! I guess I must be really tired after the office party...

Mommy Monkey on prowl for food

Took time to prepare myself and reached the Taman Tun Park aka Taman Tasik Lembah Kiara (in Malay) @ around 10.00AM. The sun was glaring furiously when I reached the park but it did not faze my determination as I am there for a reason! WOW! Talk about determination... :P

Well decorated PARK

Started off the track by taking the longer route by simple walks and I am always amazed by the freshness of the air around the park. Even though it's seated in the Kuala Lumpur City address with housing development around...the park is able to give you a feeling like you're back to nature. It has well laid jog path and greenery is just everywhere. It's comfortable and cooling especially if you take the longer path as it's just beside a Forest Reserve.

From time to time, you can actually get a glimpse or two of faunas around the park such as the 2 shots above that entertains my photoshoot. There are more critters around if you carefully observe your surrounding in the park.

After a walk around the long route, I started to jog and it seems my stamina is not what it used to be anymore :( I took the short route this time which is around the lake that passes by a man made waterfall and the jog ended up only half the route....seems like I need more practise and definitely will be back for more!

Xmas Party @ Office...

Xmas is coming and our company juz throw a Xmas Party...a lot of peeps was wondering why so early...well cause Xmas is juz next Thursday and most of d staffs wont be around d... It's good that our company organise such a party as it really brings employees closer 2gether... especially so between depts where sometimes we feel like killing each other due 2 d work flow issues...

Well d party is not as Grand as other MNC companies but d thought thats d most important rite? So long d meaning and feeling is there... Our "party committee" went out 2 plan 4 d party as well as purchase d necessary stuffs especially d food and drinks! D foods includes Pizza & Chicken wing from Domino's and Chicken pieces, coleslaw, wedges & mashed potato from KFC while drinks r COKE & PEPSI...

There was a cake from Sun Moulin...quite a famous cake store that our staff usually patrons 4 our monthly staff meeting ( 2 celebrate babies of d month ~ birthday celebration ) ... d cake is very cute indeed...check out d pic! didnt manage 2 eat it though but some of d staffs claim that d quality has deteriorate a lot since our last purchase which is 3 months ago...yea u heard it rite.. we did not had any staff meeting for 3 months...it was mostly due 2 hectic schedule..

yes...d most happening part....Xmas pressie exhange...everyone needs 2 buy something and wrap it up 4 our "party committee" and they will arrange on how one gets d package... its being numbered...no 1 is allowed 2 get back their own pressie... if they do...they r required 2 pick another number again...hahahha...really fun...had that last year as well...

At last....YES! Alrite! Hahahhaha....I got my Starbucks Planner d :D Seems like quite a number of places is already out of it...WOW! This planner really has demand....Suddenly i feel so 'kiasu' d ehehehe...

I got 2 know about this planner from a Facebook fren of mine who is working in Starbucks.. She kept promoting about d planner but at first I thought a planner like that cost RM18 and need 2 purchase a Grande? I had my doubts as last year I had 1 which was not that impressive at all... So i pass d chance...that was about 1 month ago... but then after some frens showed me how easy 2 use and well organised this planner is compared 2 d previous year, i was intrigued but still contemplated...

Then 2day I got a surprise Xmas pressie from my staff ( Thanx APPLE )....it was really nice of her 2 give me this gift....d planner is really useful even though I've yet 2 scribble anything on it.. It also has lots of inspirational statements and d 1 I like most is d " Inspire Change 1 Cup at A Time " ....very meaningful indeed....APPLE, thanx again 4 d wonderful gift! :D

Another rushing day indeed...got up from bed...check some messages in Facebook and got everything prep in under 30 mins and there i go...flying all the way 2 Klang from Bandar Utama.. luckily 4 me d traffic was not bad as I was using NKVE... hope i was not caught 4 SPEEDING as i did saw a "pak kiok" (~ a term in cantonese 4 traffic police) hiding behind 1 of d pillars.. Reached I - City ( http://www.i-city.com.my/malaysia/model/index.html ) for my appointment and my 1st thought was WOW! it is stunning... they have a huge concierge lot approximately 2 shop office 2 welcome guests. The staffs r professional and d concierge is fitted with great gadgets especially d Mac Machines as well as d IP phones from Cisco..

My reason 4 being there is 2 do some "spy work" 4 my co...2 find out more about wat I City has 2 offer...i met up with 2 person who gave great presentation with their Mac Pro book ( how i wish my co could provide me with that ) and i am "SOLD"...hahaha but luckily i did not have that much of money 2 actually paid d upfront deposit 2 lease those units :P After 2 hours of viewing and discussion i left I City and rushed back all d way 2 KL 2 meet up my fren/client without having any breakfast nor lunch!

It was around 3 when I got to KL City thaks to the infamous jam that we alwiz have 2 brace through... Picked up my fren/client from her office and we went 4 our lunch at Old Town Kopitiam @ Jalan Yap Kwan Seng... Without a second i already ticked on wat i wanted as i was so hungry i cant stand it anymore...ordered 1 curry mee, half boiled egg and Old Town famous White Coffee while my fren/client ordered Lam Mee & warm water...

we chatted not more than 5 minutes and our food arrives...speaking of fast food...its definitely fast! if u were 2 compare 2 some fast food outlet either Mc D or KFC (especially during peak hours) u will feel d difference that Old Town service is even faster! i quickly GULP down my food like a starving POW... and either am too hungry or d curry mee there does taste fantastic?

We continued with our chats and i oso helped my fren/client 2 plan out her retirement. Btw she is only 26 this year and she agrees with d retirement package that i shown 2 her
:P ( ppl should prepare way long b4 they retire ) . After she filled up d forms using her own blood as signature (juz kidding) ... I sent her back 2 office b4 i return back 2 office.. definitely a tiring day indeed...settled some e-mails and made some calls b4 joining my colleagues at our office canteen 2 drink a "teh tarik" b4 continuing my work till 8pm!

can u really imagine that at 8pm d traffic at Jln Tun Razak is still as bad as during peak hours? I was stuck there easily 30 mins and it took me about 50 mins to reach back home! sigh.. well its been a really tiring day indeed and 4 d past 1 week i've been sleeping easily around 2 to 3 am but last nite..only 11.30pm! Feel rested and ready 2 go 4 another rushing day especially 2day is Friday!

time really flies huh? its already wed and we're juz 8 days from Xmas day and 14 days from 2009....been a hectic day 4 me as i need 2 rush all d way 2 bukit raja 2 'investigate' some competition and report back 2 my bosses...seems a failed attempt as d 'informant' has no time 4 me & i have 2 rush back there again tomorrow :( travelling really tiring lar...sigh...all 4 work..

anyways sneaked in 2 BORDERS 2 look 4 Wing...while waiting 4 "kai-che" 2 arrive, we browsed through some mags...seems like publications nowadays aint cheap...its been awhile since i bought mags and i am not sure about d increase of prices but its really shocking 2 c such small publication less than 0.5 inches thick at RM10?? wow...anyways 30 mins later "kai-che" arrived at 7.30pm and we went to Hometown Kopitiam 2 search 4 food but after sitting there like 5 mins we agreed 2 move 2 Kim Gary instead as d menu there does not attract us at all :P

2008 has been a great and not so great year 4 me...how so? d good things first...got 2 know lots of new and great frens namely Wing, Eugenie (ah ma), Alice Teh (kai-che), Janny, Nor juz 2 emphasise a few...oso able 2 learn more about invesments & how it helped me as well as my investors on growing their pool of resources, achieving self satisfaction goals which i never thought of achieving...getting 2 know high net worth people around...able 2 visit redang once more...

4 d sad part...lost someone i loved most...i do understand loosing loved ones is part of life cycle be it parents, family members, frens etc but those r mostly relates 2 natural world cycle... i've never felt so much hurt b4 .... not only has she hurt me once but twice! frens were asking why am i so stupid to be cheated not only once....i cannot answer them at all...well its going 2 be 2009 soon and I will leave it all behind as it has already been 4 months and 18 days since d break up.. well i guess its during these time that u really know who ur true frens r as they shine bright in d dark and this i wanna thank Alex, Alan, Lai, Eugenie, Wing, Alice & Nor (not 4getting my god parents, priscilla, christine, crystal, janny, karyn & estella) ....Like my god parents said : GOD has other plans 4 me & oso these experiences make me stronger!

2009...a year of plans and packed schedule as well as money crunching activities...starting of will be a visit to australia (melbourne->sydney->perth) in march...then diving lessons in May @ Tioman Island....June CFP courses...Quarter 3 a road trip 2 d east coast & lastly end of year would be either Krabi or Bali! oh yeah! bring it on!

most of u will be wondering why d topic that i am mentioning here is not related 2 d pics at all... well ur rite until now :P actually why i am showing d above pics is that ppl r really spending.. look at d massive jam at mid valley and its only 4 pm on a Tuesday! not 4getting Starbucks @ The Gardens....90% occupied...Starbucks @ Megamall is 100% occupied...Starbucks @ Borders, The Gardens is 80% occupied...btw am not promoting Starbucks here ok? i'm trying 2 relate 2 my blog readers that d economy is not as bad as wat d media has been potraying...sure...lots of u will argue is not here yet or d ppl visiting there r youngsters or this is d year end Xmas sale etc... well u might be true or u might not...juz 4 u readers 2 note that Starbucks is not a need but a lifestyle and if ppl can afford it...u should realise that d ppl has d purchasing power...it shows...ppl can spend on fine dining, lifestyle, shop like no ppl biz, travel.....not only that...as of now...its still an employee market out there...whereby employee chooses d company and not d other way around.....so wat say u?

Lately I've been addicted 2 wat most of d ppl r doing... blogging and photography and this I send my thanx 2 my "kai-che" or "god-sis" referred in my previous post "2008.. a year has been". It's really a good past time 4 me 2 learn more about other hobbies as I've been clubbing & partying non stop since my bad break in July this year...a really good way 2 divert attention..

Thanx 2 my "kai-che" as well as she lent me her Canon S3 IS 2 play with....since she got herself a new baby; a Nikon D40 :D so now am trying 2 learn d ropes of photoshooting as well as blogging which I am trying out by uploading some photos which i took quite recently...I seem 2 be stuck with just 1 photo uploaded and not being able 2 upload further...so I guess it would have 2 do 4 now till I figure it out...anyone care 2 assist please? :(
